Key Responsibilities:
- Design lighting solutions that align with artistic direction and meet client expectations while enhancing the work of other departments.
- Innovate realistic lighting schemes that reflect the mood and requirements of the scene.
- Engage with the Art Director and client representatives to ensure the quality of work meets the desired standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to fulfill lighting needs that support target quality.
- Utilize lighting to enhance art style and atmosphere.
- Balance visual quality with performance constraints.
- Work closely with the Art Director and Technical Director to validate and refine lighting quality based on feedback.
- Estimate and create tasks for the Lighting Art team.
- Assess lighting quality post-changes from other departments and implement necessary enhancements.
- Address lighting bugs identified by testers.
- Optimize lighting for the best possible image quality while adhering to engine limitations.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Lighting Artist in the gaming industry, with prior senior or lead responsibilities and at least one completed title in your portfolio.
- Deep understanding of color theory, lighting, and composition.
- Proficient in real-time and pre-rendered lighting techniques.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4 and 5, including techniques like Lumen, VSM, and Nanite is advantageous.
- Experience with DCC tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender, and 2D/3D art tools like Photoshop, Substance Painter, or Substance Designer relevant to Lighting Art production.
- Proactive and initiative-driven with a meticulous eye for detail.
- Able to provide and receive constructive feedback and adapt to evolving requirements.
- Creative and resourceful problem-solver.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in photography.
- Background in other areas of computer graphics would be beneficial.
