About the Role
As the Senior Manager of Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR) and Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) Trading, you will play a pivotal role in driving Clearway’s congestion management strategies. Reporting to the Senior Director of Market Optimization & Trading, your responsibilities will encompass the development, execution, and optimization of strategies within ERCOT and CAISO’s CRR and Day-Ahead markets, as well as the PJM FTR market. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and monetizing congestion opportunities while managing the company's nodal risk and basis exposure across its generation portfolio. Additionally, you will devise hedging and risk management strategies that span other areas of the portfolio. This position demands strong analytical, modeling, risk management, and trading skills to support commercial decisions and enhance portfolio optimization in our rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities
CRR / FTR Trading & Position Management
- Develop and implement CRR, FTR, and congestion trading strategies to effectively hedge and optimize portfolio congestion risk across ERCOT, CAISO, and PJM.
- Analyze historical and projected congestion patterns to pinpoint trading opportunities in monthly and annual CRR auctions.
- Manage portfolio-level exposure to nodal price risk through strategic CRR / FTR acquisitions, sales, and virtual positions.
- Support the Real-Time and Day-Ahead Market Operations Team with congestion insights and locational pricing forecasts.
- Collaborate with Market Fundamentals, Asset Management, and Origination teams to align CRR strategies with commercial hedging and offtake structures.
- Monitor project-level financial performance related to congestion costs, basis exposure, and hedge efficiency.
- Maintain dashboards and reporting tools to track CRR positions, portfolio exposure, and profit and loss (P&L) attribution.
Analytics & Modeling
- Utilize power flow and production cost modeling software (e.g., Dayzer and PROMOD) to forecast congestion and simulate transmission constraints.
- Coordinate with Fundamentals and Analytics teams to enhance the modeling of nodal prices, transmission outages, and topology changes.
- Leverage programming tools such as Python, R, SQL, and Power BI for automating congestion analytics and scenario back-testing.
- Conduct research on regulatory filings, transmission constraints, and market rules to inform strategic decision-making.
