About the job

Archer Aviation is a pioneering aerospace company located in San Jose, California, focused on developing an innovative all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Our mission is to enhance sustainable air mobility, creating aircraft designed to transport four passengers while minimizing noise pollution.

We aim high and tackle complex challenges, believing that a diverse workforce enriches our perspectives, stimulates better solutions, and propels us toward collective success. We are committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace that values and celebrates our diverse team members.

About the Role:

As a vital member of Archer's mission, you will support the scaling of production for our groundbreaking eVTOL aircraft. Within the Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team, your responsibilities will include developing build plans, assembly tooling, form boards, work instructions, and providing design feedback for avionics harnesses throughout the aircraft. You will also troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in harnesses or routing challenges, collaborating closely with Quality and Design teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Production Systems: Create comprehensive production systems for wire harness installation across the aircraft assembly line, ensuring seamless integration with supplier-fabricated structural assemblies.
  • Partner with Suppliers: Work collaboratively with external suppliers to identify opportunities for the pre-installation of harness standoffs, supports, and select harnesses during structural assembly fabrication.
  • Optimize Installation Processes: Define and document protocols, guidelines, and standards to enhance the speed, safety, and consistency of wire harness installation. Establish preferred components, tooling, and methods.
  • Prevent Damage and Enable Repair: Anticipate potential harness damage during production and create mitigation strategies, repair procedures, and rework standards to safeguard system integrity and safety.
  • Scale for Rate: Strategize for increased production rates by assessing how tools, processes, and production systems must adapt to accommodate higher volumes.
  • Support Certification: Author and maintain process documentation, standards, and evidence necessary for FAA certification and ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness in harness production.

About Archer Aviation

Archer Aviation is at the forefront of aerospace innovation, dedicated to creating sustainable air mobility solutions with its all-electric eVTOL aircraft. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion drives our success as we work towards transforming the future of aviation.
