Position Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Oklo, you will be integral to the design of critical hardware that ensures the safe and reliable operation of our advanced fast reactors. Your responsibilities will encompass the technical ownership of large, multi-component weldments and assemblies forming the reactor module within our Aurora powerhouses. This will include components from the reactor vessel to various internal support structures and primary coolant flow elements. You will lead these components from conceptual design through to detailed design and fabrication readiness, ensuring all elements meet performance, manufacturability, industrial code compliance, and integration into Oklo’s broader reactor system. Your role will require extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams, including structural analysts, systems engineers, materials experts, and external design and fabrication partners.

This high-responsibility role is at the core of our flagship product. Success in this position demands the ability to deliver high-quality mechanical solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment where both technical excellence and a collaborative mindset are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage complex mechanical components and subsystems within the reactor module.
  • Engage with cross-functional engineering teams to establish design and functional requirements, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., ASME BPVC).
  • Utilize CAD tools to convert functional requirements into robust designs that satisfy structural, thermal, and integration constraints.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing and receiving technical feedback.
