Minimum Qualifications:Technical Expertise: Proven ability to deliver high-quality mechanical designs, supported by a strong academic background or significant professional experience in robotics, automotive, or automation sectors. Experience in Motion Subsystems: A minimum of 10 years in designing mechanical components, including drivetrain assemblies, lifting mechanisms, or mobile robot structures. CAD Proficiency: Mastery in 3D modeling and detailed 2D drafting using SolidWorks or similar software, including GD&T application. Real-World Design Experience: Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles, mechanical tolerancing, and material selection for production-grade components. Practical Debugging Skills: Capability to prototype, test, and troubleshoot hardware issues, especially in deployed or customer-facing systems. Fluent in English and proficient in Japanese for effective communication with local suppliers.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Rapyuta Robotics, you will work hand-in-hand with Electronics Engineers, Embedded Software Engineers, Procurement Specialists, and our Manufacturing partners. Your role will focus on advancing the capabilities of robotics hardware, pushing the limits of what is achievable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Design: Create durable and cost-effective mechanical components for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), elevators, and battery exchangers, including chassis, suspension systems, lifting mechanisms, and drive assemblies.
  • Analysis and Validation: Conduct thorough structural, kinematic, and tolerance analyses to ensure safety, reliability, and performance across diverse payloads and operational conditions.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Develop and assess prototypes, resolve mechanical issues arising from field feedback, and lead design iterations based on test results and operational insights.
  • Manufacturing Coordination: Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) compliance, facilitate vendor communications for part production, and engage in pre-production builds.
