WHO YOU ARE:
Astro Mechanica is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer who is ready to take ownership of hardware design from the conceptual phase through to production. The right candidate will possess a deep understanding of how their designs impact surrounding systems and will tackle technical challenges with a first-principles approach. Your contributions will directly influence the configuration and performance of our Duality™ engine.
In this position, you will lead the journey of our cutting-edge jet engine and its subsystems from early prototypes to flight qualification, vehicle integration, and actual flight. You will embody the philosophy of testing as you fly.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Conduct design trade studies while considering system-level impacts.
Complete detailed designs supported by structural, thermal, and fluid analyses.
Lead design reviews and gather feedback from stakeholders.
Build prototypes directly, design necessary tooling, and create work instructions.
Perform hardware tests and analyze data to confirm compliance with requirements and performance metrics.
Efficiently diagnose hardware issues and identify corrective actions.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
10+ years of hands-on experience with fluid dynamics and mechanical design in aerospace applications.
