About the job
Archer Aviation is an innovative aerospace company headquartered in San Jose, California, dedicated to revolutionizing air travel with our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Our mission is to enhance sustainable air mobility by designing, manufacturing, and operating aircraft that carry four passengers while ensuring minimal noise pollution.
We embrace high ambitions and complex challenges, and we firmly believe that a diverse workplace drives smarter solutions and greater insights. Our commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment celebrates the unique contributions of every team member, propelling us toward collective success.
About the Role
As part of Archer’s mission, we are scaling the production of our groundbreaking Electric Propulsion System (EPS), the core technology of our eVTOL aircraft. The EPS includes the Electric Motor, Inverter, and Propeller assemblies, representing one of the most technically advanced and highly automated manufacturing systems in our facility.
We are seeking a passionate Powertrain Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in power electronic assemblies. This role is ideal for someone who excels at bridging the gap between design and production, enjoys optimizing complex processes, and is committed to developing world-class hardware from the ground up.
What You’ll Do:
- Contribute to the design and scaling of Archer’s EPS production line, from concept to high-rate manufacturing, encompassing layout, automation strategy, tooling, and ramp-up planning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Design, Quality, Facilities, and Manufacturing teams to facilitate the production of new electric motor and propeller systems.
- Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives to ensure efficient, safe, and scalable product assembly.
- Create and implement comprehensive manufacturing build plans, defining part flow, line layout, tools, equipment, and manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM).
- Specify and validate automation systems, tooling, and test equipment for high-reliability production.
- Conduct PFMEA (Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) to proactively identify and mitigate risks in the production system.
