Desired Qualifications:Proven experience in data centre design coupled with broader building design expertise is a must. Honours degree in a built-environment field with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant post-graduate experience, or a B-Tech degree with at least five (5) years of experience, or a National Higher Diploma with six (6) years of experience, or a National Diploma with seven (7) years of experience in a built-environment field. Tertiary qualification in a project management-related discipline (e.g., quantity surveying, engineering, architecture, planning, contracting) with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant post-graduate experience is desirable. Professional registration with relevant bodies is advantageous. A Master’s degree in Science or Engineering is a plus.

We are in search of a highly skilled and seasoned Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic Data Centre Project Management and Development team. This position focuses on both international and local data centre initiatives and is based in Centurion, South Africa, where our expert technical teams operate. You'll have the exciting opportunity to collaborate with global teams on high-profile, fast-paced data centre projects for esteemed international clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of hyperscale data centre projects, including site due diligence, master planning, conceptual and schematic design, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Hands-on leadership of data centre and building design teams, ensuring quality and adherence to budgets and timelines.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients while enhancing our multidisciplinary data centre team and service offerings.
  • Engage proactively with clients, contractors, and supply-chain partners, leading multidisciplinary coordination across various design packages.
  • Conduct peer reviews and quality checks aligned with AECOM’s standards.
  • Manage localization requirements for international data centre standards and track any design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver integrated, technically robust solutions, facilitating meetings with clients and external stakeholders.
