Qualifications

Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of progressive office surveying experience. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification is highly desired. Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience with surveying principles, techniques, and equipment. Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Autodesk Civil 3D. Experience in construction staking, including plan reading, construction calculations, and preparation of cut sheets. Familiarity with processing laser scanning data, including registration and 3D modeling is advantageous. Ability to lead and initiate special projects as necessary. Flexible working hours may be required. Travel between BKF offices and off-site client locations is expected.

Role overview

The Senior Project Surveyor leads the delivery of survey projects from initial planning through completion. This role manages team coordination, maintains technical standards, and mentors junior staff. Direct interaction with clients and identifying opportunities to broaden service offerings are also key aspects of this position.

Main responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering plans and CAD files to prepare construction staking calculations.
  • Produce mapping deliverables such as boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, plats, and legal descriptions.
  • Post-process field data gathered with total stations, GPS, levels, 3D laser scanners, and unmanned aerial systems.
  • Create 3D models of sites and structures for a range of stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Travel to job sites and other BKF offices as required by project needs.
