About the job

ABOUT US:

At Astro Mechanica, we are reimagining the future of aerospace. Our company is dedicated to creating a faster, more interconnected world through innovative supersonic travel solutions that are not only efficient but also sustainable. We aim to make high-speed flight accessible to all by developing our unique Duality™ propulsion system, which integrates advanced airframe and engine technologies. Our focus is on providing flexible, point-to-point global mobility, revolutionizing how people and goods traverse the globe. Currently, we are collaborating with the United States government to enhance aircraft performance through adaptable high-speed systems.

WHO WE ARE:

We are a dynamic team of engineers driven by a shared passion for aerospace innovation. Our flat organizational structure encourages collaboration and allows us to maintain a pragmatic approach to engineering. We prioritize rapid development and the pursuit of excellence in our projects.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A seasoned aerospace engineer with a strong background in inlet design and propulsion-airframe integration for high-speed aircraft.

  • A proactive engineer who excels in complex, interconnected design challenges.

  • Skilled in managing intricate subsystems from initial analytical evaluations to detailed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and system integration.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead the design, analysis, and integration of supersonic air inlet systems for advanced propulsion-airframe configurations.

  • Utilize analytical methods, reduced-order modeling, and CFD to support inlet architecture selections and performance assessments.

  • Assess inlet performance metrics such as mass flow capture, pressure recovery, flow distortion, and operability throughout the flight envelope.

  • Collaborate with propulsion, airframe, and systems engineers to address integration challenges related to bleed systems, secondary flows, and transient behavior.

  • Provide technical leadership and independent judgment within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary aerospace design environment.
