Role Overview: Senior Software Engineer – Windows/Desktop Applications

This role focuses on building and shaping Speechify’s native Windows desktop applications. The work blends technical depth with a commitment to accessibility and user experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, architect, and develop native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar UI frameworks), C#, XAML, and C++ as needed.
  • Define and maintain best practices for Windows development, covering code structure, performance, memory efficiency, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and long-term maintainability.
  • Lead accessibility efforts by integrating and validating support for accessibility APIs such as Microsoft UI Automation. Ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support meet the needs of users with disabilities.
  • Work closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to plan features, shape UI/UX architecture, and set the long-term direction for the Windows platform.
  • Own features from initial concept through design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance. Deliver quality and reliability in every release.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs, performance issues, memory leaks, rendering glitches, or compatibility problems. Propose and implement sound architectural or design solutions.

Location

This position is based in Medellín, Colombia. The team operates fully remotely.
