At OpenAI, the Strategic Finance organization plays a critical role in delivering financial insights and strategic guidance that underpin our ambitious growth and long-term vision. We collaborate extensively with Product, Partnerships, Engineering, and Go-To-Market (GTM) teams to effectively allocate resources toward the highest-impact opportunities while ensuring sustainable unit economics.

The Applications Technology Strategic Finance team works closely with Product teams to scale existing offerings and introduce new products to the market. We lead revenue forecasting and performance management across our product portfolio, focusing on economic margins, pricing strategies, and structuring partnership deals.

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Strategic Finance partner to bolster OpenAI's Ads business. In this role, you will collaborate intimately with Ads Product and GTM leadership, driving financial planning and forecasting, assessing new initiatives, and delivering actionable insights on performance.

Your contributions will be pivotal in establishing the financial frameworks necessary for scaling the Ads business, from revenue forecasting and performance assessment to economic modeling for innovative products and initiatives. This is a unique chance to shape the future of cutting-edge AI products while navigating the intersection of strategy, finance, and technology.

This position is based in San Francisco, CA, utilizing a hybrid work model with three days in-office per week and offering relocation assistance for new hires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Strategic Finance partner for our Ads teams, influencing business strategy and investment choices.

  • Conduct financial assessments for our Ads business, which includes revenue and compute modeling, defining core metrics, identifying leading indicators, monitoring variances, and highlighting risks and opportunities.

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and GTM leaders on strategic initiatives and new product launches to formulate growth strategies.

  • Examine business trends and convert data into actionable insights that guide both long-term strategy and day-to-day operations.

  • Develop and enhance financial planning processes, including forecasting methodologies, management reporting, and performance narratives that boost decision-making speed and accountability.

  • Stay informed on market trends and competitive landscapes to refine financial strategies.

  • Create and present high-quality executive and Board materials that communicate strategic insights effectively.
