Qualifications:B. S. Degree in Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is preferred.5+ years of relevant experience; 8+ years is preferred. Proven experience with PennDOT projects. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania is mandatory or the capability to obtain it within six months. Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders including ownership, management, peers, customers, vendors, contractors, and partners. In-depth understanding of applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to the field. Strong knowledge of general structural engineering principles. Familiarity with clients' design procedures, specifications, and presentation formats. Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Bentley MicroStation CADD, InRoads, Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MATHCAD, STAAD II, and Bluebeam. Capable of solving complex engineering challenges. Experience in hydraulic and hydrologic analysis/reports including HEC-2 analysis.

CDR Maguire Engineering is looking for a Senior Structural/Bridge Design Engineer to join the Transportation Engineering Division in Mechanicsburg, PA. This role centers on advanced engineering design and plan preparation, working with minimal supervision. The position involves structural computations, preparing cost estimates, reviewing quality, and writing detailed reports.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop structural engineering designs based on guidance from the Project Manager, including calculations, quantity take-offs, sketches, and layout drawings.
  • Manage bridge geometry assignments, such as COGO geometry tasks.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external clients.
  • Independently perform structural computations and prepare technical reports.
  • Participate in site visits, project meetings, and public presentations as needed.
  • Conduct bridge inspections when qualified.
  • Stay up to date with design technology, construction equipment, and industry trends.
  • Assist other CDR Maguire offices when required.

Additional duties

  • Take on other relevant tasks as they arise in the course of work.
  • Travel as needed for project or company requirements.
  • Complete company-mandated training sessions.
