Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a STEM-related field; a background in Mechanical or Electrical engineering is preferred.5+ years of engineering product development experience, with at least 3+ years in R&D environments focused on innovative product development.3+ years of experience in systems engineering, demonstrating a successful track record of managing hardware system development projects to completion. Proven innovative and creative problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and strong time management skills. A strong curiosity and willingness to challenge senior technical members regarding processes, approaches, and technical strategies.

About the job

ICON is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer I to drive the cross-functional development of Defense R&D programs. This position focuses on optimizing and designing advanced 3D printing robotics for defense and military use. The Senior Systems Engineer I will report to the Senior Director of Defense R&D Programs and work onsite at ICON’s Austin, TX campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a skilled team of engineers and technicians in developing systems for defense applications.
  • Guide the use of systems engineering tools, processes, and methodologies throughout project lifecycles.
  • Communicate technical information clearly with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Ensure designs meet the strict requirements of defense and military standards.
