About the job
Persona AI develops and commercializes advanced humanoid robots built to solve practical problems. The founding team draws on decades of experience in humanoid robotics, bionics, and product development, with a track record that includes hardware for space exploration, deep-sea missions, and interactive entertainment at Disney Parks. The company focuses on building reliable, visually appealing products at scale, with a strong commitment to customer needs.
About the Teleoperation Team
The Teleoperation Team connects human expertise with robotic systems. Success depends on accurate, fast, and consistent data that mirrors the robot’s real-time environment. This group ensures operators can trust every response, even over unpredictable networks.
Role Overview: Senior Systems & Robotics Engineer – Teleoperation
This position centers on the technical infrastructure that powers machine-side teleoperation. The Senior Systems & Robotics Engineer will develop frameworks for data transport, integrate hardware components, and build monitoring systems to support seamless human-robot interaction across challenging network conditions. Latency is a critical concern; every millisecond matters for operator confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design low-latency, fault-tolerant data streaming systems that work reliably over WiFi, cellular, and other networks.
- Develop software that interfaces directly with hardware SDKs for robotic perception and control.
- Create real-time data pipelines to connect motion capture and hardware prototypes for demos and training.
- Establish monitoring, metrics, and alerting systems that scale with a growing fleet of robots.
- Build web APIs and backend services for data collection, remote operation, and analytics.
- Develop embedded Linux software within the firmware stack to address latency and performance challenges.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on systems, embedded systems, or robotics.
- Proficiency in Rust and C++, plus strong Python skills for tool development and performance-critical work.
- Deep experience working with Linux, especially in embedded and firmware-level contexts.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, WiFi, cellular, BLE) and strong debugging abilities.
- Familiarity with robotic control systems and protocols is a plus.
Location
This role is based in Pensacola, FL or Houston, TX.
