The Senior Systems Safety Engineer:
- Leads the design and deployment of engineering safety protocols for our autonomous vehicle systems.
- Responsible for conducting hazard evaluations, risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to established industry safety standards including ISO 26262, SOTIF, and ASIL.
- Works closely with interdisciplinary teams consisting of software, hardware, and AI engineers to embed safety measures within the design and validation phases of our autonomous vehicle technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the creation and implementation of system safety processes tailored for autonomous vehicle platforms.
- Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments (HARA) for various AV components and subsystems.
- Assist in defining and verifying functional safety requirements in accordance with ISO 26262 and SOTIF (ISO 21448).
- Collaborate effectively with hardware, software, and AI teams to integrate safety measures into perception, decision-making, and control systems.
- Support the development of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and fault tree analysis (FTA) for AV systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry safety standards, including SAE J3016, NHTSA, and UNECE WP.29.
- Oversee the execution of safety verification and validation plans, which include simulation, testing, and real-world driving scenarios.
- Engage with certification bodies and regulators to facilitate safety case documentation and approval processes.
- Foster a strong safety culture within the organization by providing guidance and training.
