Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, coupled with 8 years of relevant experience in transportation design or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a Professional Engineering (P. E.) license in Colorado, Arizona, or Utah, or the ability to achieve reciprocity within six (6) months of hire. Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D or Microstation/Power InRoads or Power GeoPak. Experience in preparing engineering design reports and construction drawings for highway, roadway, transit, and/or rail projects. Strong collaboration and coordination skills with multi-discipline design engineers and technicians. Experience in roadway design. Knowledge of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and/or Light Rail Transit (LRT) design. Familiarity with local and national design standards for BRT/LRT. Ability to interpret and utilize relevant standards effectively.

AECOM is currently looking for a Senior Transit Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Salt Lake City, Denver, or Phoenix.

Position Overview:

  • The Senior Transit Engineer will play a crucial role within our US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Group.
  • This position offers the chance to engage in a variety of stimulating transit initiatives, with a specific emphasis on supporting our regional Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) design team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a team leader and/or deputy project manager on various planning studies, preliminary design studies, and final design projects for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with team members while contributing to business development efforts.
  • Complete specific and moderate portions of broader assignments under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, develop drawings, and create visual aids for BRT infrastructure.
  • Review and prepare multimodal street designs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects.
  • Utilize expertise to ensure the completion of discipline components for PS&E packages.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
  • Prepare technical specifications.
  • Contribute to engineering budget and schedule development.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to entry-level engineers.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with team members to fulfill design elements for engineering projects.
