Job Overview

We are on the lookout for a skilled Industrial Engineer (IE) to spearhead the design and validation of our shipyard's physical manufacturing systems. This pivotal role involves crafting optimized building layouts, defining process flow paths, determining square footage requirements, and developing capacity models across all significant shipyard operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive shipyard layouts focusing on throughput, product mix, and block construction strategies.

  • Define specifications for building footprints, clear heights, bay dimensions, and crane coverage.

  • Establish square footage needs for panel fabrication, sub-assembly, block assembly, and pre-outfitting stages.

  • Develop models for capacity and throughput to optimize operations.

  • Ensure that layouts align with automation-first processes for enhanced efficiency.

  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and finance teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial facility layout or manufacturing system design.

  • Proficient understanding of material flow optimization and bottleneck analysis.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in heavy manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with greenfield facility design projects.

  • Proficient in 3D facility modeling.

  • Exposure to automation-enabled production systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with design teams and shop-floor operations.
