Position Overview
As a Special Education Teacher, also known as an Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate Support Needs), you will play an instrumental role in delivering an inclusive and high-quality education to every student. You will work closely with students, families, general education teachers, and paraprofessionals to provide tailored academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
At Rocketship, we are committed to inclusive education, ensuring that students with disabilities learn alongside their peers in general education settings whenever feasible. As an Education Specialist, you will co-teach, collaborate closely with general educators, and partner with paraprofessionals to implement necessary accommodations and modifications, fostering a vibrant classroom environment where all students can excel together.
You will manage a dedicated caseload at your assigned school, providing small-group, push-in, and pull-out instruction while maintaining compliance with IDEA and state regulations. You will receive ongoing support through weekly coaching from school leaders and additional mentorship from a Special Education Program Specialist, ensuring your professional growth aligns with best practices.
Behavioral support is a vital component of this role. You will collaborate with families and staff to implement Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), utilizing strategies such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to cultivate safe and supportive learning environments.
As an Education Specialist, you will report directly to your Principal or Assistant Principal.
