We are in search of a passionate and detail-oriented Staff Backend Engineer who is eager to design, develop, and scale advanced, well-tested applications using modern technologies. This role will take the lead on core functionalities within the OpenSea 2.0 backend.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and communicate a technical vision for the next generation of OpenSea’s architecture, utilizing highly scalable and event-driven design principles.
Create reliable, low-latency marketplace infrastructure software capable of processing billions of dollars in daily transaction volume, including efficient blockchain indexing systems, large-scale order management systems, and REST & Websocket API endpoints.
Enhance internal understanding of best practices for developing high-performance and event-driven systems with real-time capabilities.
Mentor team members and serve as an internal thought leader to advocate for architectural excellence and cleanliness.
Qualifications
Minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering.
Proficient in event-driven architecture and system design patterns, including technologies like Kafka, Flink, and Debezium, as well as general distributed systems.
Strong command of JVM languages such as Kotlin or Java.
Expertise in database selection and schema design for building high-performance and scalable applications.
Intrinsic motivation to leverage new tools (e.g., AI) to enhance efficiency and quality of work.
A deep-seated passion for blockchain technology, NFTs, and the potential of digital ownership is a significant advantage.
