Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in collaborative teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to fast-paced environments.

About the job

Archer Aviation is a pioneering aerospace company headquartered in San Jose, California, dedicated to revolutionizing air travel with our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Our mission is to enhance sustainable air mobility by designing, manufacturing, and operating aircraft capable of transporting four passengers while minimizing noise pollution.

Our ambitious goals demand innovative solutions, and we firmly believe that a diverse workforce fosters smarter problem-solving and richer insights. We are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable environment that values the unique contributions of every team member.

About the Role

As Archer expands its production capabilities for our state-of-the-art Electric Propulsion System (EPS), the core of our eVTOL aircraft, we are in search of a skilled Powertrain Manufacturing Engineer. This individual will play a pivotal role in the integration of electric motors into higher-level assemblies, championing the connection between design and production. We seek a candidate who excels in developing scalable manufacturing systems, streamlining intricate processes, and crafting exceptional hardware from the ground up.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to the design and scaling of Archer’s Electric Propulsion System production line, from initial concept to high-rate manufacturing, encompassing layout, automation strategy, tooling, and ramp-up planning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Design, Quality, Facilities, and Manufacturing teams to transition new electric motor and propeller systems into production.
  • Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) strategies to ensure efficient, safe, and scalable product builds.
  • Create and execute detailed manufacturing build plans, defining part flow, line layout, tools, equipment, and manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM).
  • Specify and validate automation systems, tooling, and testing equipment to support reliable production.
  • Conduct PFMEA (Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) to proactively identify and mitigate risks in the manufacturing process.

About Archer Aviation

Archer Aviation is transforming the future of transportation by creating all-electric aircraft that prioritize sustainability and efficiency. Our commitment to innovation drives us to develop technologies that enhance the passenger experience while reducing environmental impact.
