Role Overview

This Huntsville-based position calls for a senior Space Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep experience in ground systems. The role centers on providing advisory and assistance services (A&AS) for a key Department of Defense (DoD) program, supporting the Space Force. The Space Systems Command (SSC) team delivers highly classified Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems, Defensive and Offensive Space Control (DSC/OSC) capabilities, and space test range assets to meet current and future DoD operational requirements.

The SME will contribute to the full DoD acquisition lifecycle, supporting the development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of space systems that align with both strategic and tactical needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct planning, processing, and execution of classified space control, ground, and command and control (C2) systems, maintaining strict compliance with security protocols.
  • Provide systems engineering expertise throughout the acquisition cycle and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Advise on the design and testing of space systems to ensure seamless integration with ground systems.
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to develop and refine schedules and processes.
  • Supervise the development and design of ground systems, aligning work with project objectives and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to support the successful development and operation of space systems.
  • Support comprehensive testing and validation of space systems, including detailed analysis of logs and test artifacts to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Prepare thorough documentation and reports covering ground system plans, processes, and outcomes.
  • Integrate C2 solutions as part of broader system development and deployment efforts.
