As a key member of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the Supervising Pharmacist plays a crucial role in overseeing pharmaceutical services to ensure optimal patient care, effective drug therapy, and adherence to all regulatory standards. This position encompasses a range of essential functions including:
- Leading, supervising, and organizing the work schedules of assigned staff, conducting performance evaluations, and administering disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Designing, implementing, and assessing pharmaceutical services to enhance patient outcomes.
- Interpreting and contributing to the formulation and execution of departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
- Engaging in effective communication with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, as well as the general public.
- Compiling and maintaining comprehensive reports, memoranda, and records.
- Participating in managerial decisions, including budget development.
- Mentoring and training staff to foster their professional growth.
- Executing professional pharmacist duties as needed.
- Managing the procurement of pharmaceuticals and supplies while maintaining accurate inventory levels.
