The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a dedicated Supervising Public Health Nurse for the Bureau of School Health. This vital role is reserved for individuals who are permanent in the title of Public Health Nurse. The Division of Family and Child Health (DFCH) is responsible for the development and management of initiatives that enhance physical and socio-emotional health, promote primary and reproductive health services, and foster health equity and social justice for families and children throughout New York City. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a nursing preceptor for newly hired Nurses, Public Health Advisers, and Public Health Assistants.
- Take part in the interview process for new hires.
- Supervise Public Health Advisers.
- Assist staff in applying nursing and administrative procedures; provide individual guidance, observe, and review activities.
- Act as a training resource for nurses and other School Health Staff, including school-based Department of Education staff.
- Conduct meetings, in-service training programs, and complete designated special projects.
- Carry out site visits to schools to provide clinical supervision of nurses, advisers, and assistants.
- Monitor the inventory of medical supplies and equipment within designated areas.
