Mandatory Qualifications:- A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from a regionally-accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State Education Department.- A valid and current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, which must be maintained throughout employment. Medical Requirement: Candidates will be assessed against established medical guidelines to ensure they can perform the essential functions of the Public Health Nurse role. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a nursing preceptor for newly hired Nurses, Public Health Advisers, and Public Health Assistants.
- Participate in the interviewing and hiring processes for new staff.
- Supervise Public Health Advisers and support staff in applying nursing and administrative procedures.
- Provide individualized guidance and support while observing and reviewing staff activities.
- Act as a training resource for nurses and school health staff, including those from the Department of Education.
- Conduct meetings and in-service training programs and manage designated special projects.
- Conduct site visits to schools to provide clinical supervision for nurses, advisers, and assistants.
