Team Overview:
The Surgery Engineering team is dedicated to designing and managing specialized hardware and processes for neurosurgical operations, excluding the R1 Robot and Operator Station. Our responsibilities span the entire surgical procedure, from patient positioning and incision to craniectomy, precise implant placement, robotic thread insertion, surgical site irrigation, implant installation, and closure. We also prioritize safe explantation and upgrade protocols for implants, while providing mechanical engineering support to animal care, histology, and BCI teams, thereby contributing to the success of complex neurosurgical operations and associated research initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Surgical Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing hardware and processes for human neurosurgery. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing design from initial concept through to production
- Conducting verification and validation testing
- Performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures
- Optimizing surgical processes
- Preparing technical documentation for regulatory compliance
