The Bureau of Environmental Disease Prevention is dedicated to safeguarding public health by preventing environmental diseases and injuries in residential, community, and workplace settings. The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is looking for a detail-oriented Surveillance Analyst to become an integral part of the Bureau of Environmental Disease Prevention (EDP) within the Division of Environmental Health. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of scientists and analysts, supporting the upkeep of surveillance system applications, preparing quantitative analyses, and investigating reports of environmental diseases, including childhood blood lead surveillance, among other responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain surveillance system applications that manage the receipt, cleaning, standardization, transmission, and investigation of environmental disease reports, particularly focusing on childhood blood lead levels.
- Conduct both active and passive surveillance of childhood blood lead testing reported by clinical laboratories, point-of-care testing facilities, and various healthcare providers.
- Facilitate the enrollment and reporting processes for blood lead testing facilities across New York City.
- Collaborate with Medicaid Managed Care Programs to identify children needing blood lead testing through effective communication, data matching, and analytical methods.
- Generate quantitative reports detailing project statuses and deliver presentations to program stakeholders and external partners.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
