We are looking for a passionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our partner school in Carmarthen. This role involves providing support to pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour and require additional emotional and behavioural assistance to engage effectively in their learning.

This position is ideal for someone who remains composed under pressure, is consistent in their approach, and is dedicated to helping students cultivate self-regulation, confidence, and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to pupils facing challenging behaviour
  • Assist pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour within the classroom
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Encourage pupils to stay engaged in their learning and access the curriculum
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrable experience in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour within a school or similar setting
  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships
  • A strong understanding of behaviour as communication
  • Capability to adhere to behaviour support plans and school policies

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with SEMH, ADHD, or ASD
  • Training in de-escalation or behaviour management
  • Prior experience in a mainstream school environment
