QualificationsEducation & Experience - A Bachelor’s Degree along with 10+ years of experience in technical disciplines, including a strong background in writing technical procedures within a commercial or Weapons Complex environment. Alternatively, candidates with a technical background and 18 years of experience in writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex may be considered. Citizenship - Applicants must be U. S. citizens due to the federal nature of the work. Clearance - Candidates must possess an active or recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance. Familiarity with regulatory and administrative requirements related to procedures is essential. Candidates should understand technical requirements by reviewing DOE Orders and Standards, including 60-101PD, the Quality Assurance Program Description, Y60-015, the Integrated Quality Manual, Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documents, and Hazard Analysis documents.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our team as a Technical Procedure Writer at the esteemed Y-12 National Security Complex! This full-time position is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Energy (DOE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and update technical procedures that guide personnel in safely executing tasks related to dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection.

  • Adhere to Y15-232, the Technical Procedure Process, and utilize the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT).

  • Revise administrative procedures while ensuring compliance with Y15-235, the Administrative Management Requirements Process, and the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT).

  • Develop Enterprise procedures relevant to both Y-12 and Pantex.

  • Coordinate procedure reviews and facilitate comment resolution.

  • Implement hazard controls, gather quality and performance data, and validate that procedures can be performed as intended.
