Language Empire is urgently searching for freelance Arabic interpreters based in Newcastle to provide services in various environments such as the NHS, local authorities, police, probation services, and other public and private organizations.
Founded in 2001, Language Empire has been delivering high-quality interpreting and translation services across the UK for over two decades, covering a wide range of languages and dialects. If you are proficient in one or more foreign languages and are interested in a vital role that interfaces with sectors like politics, business, healthcare, and public service, this could be the perfect fit for you!
We are currently recruiting for:
- Face-to-Face Interpreters
- Telephone Interpreters
- Video Interpreters
- Translators
Please note that this is a self-employed position.
The Role
As an interpreter, you will be responsible for listening to, comprehending, and retaining information in the source language before accurately conveying it in the target language.
Your duties will include:
- Providing interpretation services for individuals accessing legal, healthcare, and local government services
- Verifying non-English speakers' understanding after each statement
- Engaging in conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting
- Handling highly confidential information
- Facilitating communication between service users and service providers
Requirements
- Fluency in English and at least one other language
- Right to work in the UK
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Formal qualifications such as:
- Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
- Community Interpreting
- NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registration is a plus
- Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages
- Any other interpreting-related qualifications
