About the Role

We are seeking a U. S. Executive Branch Lead to join our Global Affairs team. In this pivotal position, you will develop and implement strategies that enhance OpenAI’s engagement with the U. S. federal government. Your focus will be on building relationships with the White House, executive branch agencies, and influential third-party organizations, while guiding policy discussions and regulatory frameworks that affect AI advancements. You will play a crucial role in supporting OpenAI’s leadership during meetings, briefings, and other engagements, and will monitor and analyze federal executive actions and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for federal engagement that centers on AI policy and regulation.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key figures in the White House, the Executive Office of the President, and federal agencies.
  • Represent OpenAI in discussions with administration officials, policymakers, and various stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate federal executive actions and regulatory changes impacting the field of AI.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, technical, research, and communications, to create policy briefs, position papers, and responses to government inquiries on AI-related matters.
  • Engage with industry associations, think tanks, and advocacy organizations to build coalitions and promote OpenAI’s policy goals.
