THE PROGRAM

At VEG, we enthusiastically support the growth of future veterinary technicians through our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program. This program provides a hands-on, immersive experience in emergency medicine alongside our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians.

Here, you will not just be an observer, you will actively participate. Immerse yourself in the action, interact with our team, experiment with new techniques, and discover the thrilling aspects of ER life. From patient triage to diagnostics and inpatient care, you'll gain firsthand exposure to the realities of emergency medicine and assess whether this career path aligns with your passions. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Learn from leading professionals in emergency veterinary medicine.
  • Collaborate with a credentialed emergency veterinary technician for real-time mentoring and on-the-job training.
  • Shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more.
  • Enhance your skills as outlined in your school’s proficiency checklist with mentorship and support.
