THE EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program is designed to help aspiring veterinary technicians unlock their potential. This hands-on, immersive experience in emergency medicine allows you to work closely with our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians.

You'll dive into the action rather than just observing. This is your opportunity to ask questions, practice new techniques, and discover the excitement of working in an emergency room. From patient triage to diagnostics and inpatient care, you will gain invaluable exposure to the realities of emergency medicine and assess whether this path is right for you. This externship is your chance to establish a solid foundation, ignite your passion, and become part of something larger.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn from leading emergency veterinary professionals.
  • Work alongside a credentialed veterinary technician for hands-on mentoring.
  • Shadow and assist with various tasks including triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, and inpatient care.
  • Practice skills outlined in your school’s proficiency checklist under expert guidance.
  • Experience the collaborative spirit and fast-paced atmosphere that characterizes emergency care at VEG.
