We are searching for a proactive and results-driven Vice President of Payments Risk & Compliance to spearhead the development, implementation, and expansion of Modulr’s risk and compliance framework in the U. S. This pivotal leadership role will be integral to our U. S. expansion, reporting directly to the U. S. Managing Director and collaborating closely with our UK teams in Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering. You will act as the senior U. S. AML and payments risk authority, tasked with overseeing the design and efficacy of Modulr’s U. S. BSA/AML program in accordance with sponsor bank requirements, while also holding independent escalation authority to the U. S. Board and sponsor bank compliance leadership.

Your primary responsibility will be to construct a risk and compliance framework that aligns with sponsor bank standards, facilitating our U. S. launch and future growth.

Your Responsibilities

  • Establish and Lead the U. S. Risk & Compliance Division
  • Develop and oversee the U. S. risk and compliance framework in alignment with sponsor bank standards.
  • Adapt UK and EU regulatory best practices into a model suited for the U. S. market.
  • Collaborate with the sponsor bank to implement CDD, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and AML controls.
  • Formulate and maintain necessary policies, procedures, and governance documentation for U. S. operations.

Partnership with Sponsor Bank and Regulators

  • Act as the primary liaison for U. S. risk management with sponsor bank compliance, BSA/AML, and risk teams.
  • Ensure alignment with bank-defined policies, thresholds, reporting obligations, and oversight mandates.
  • Assist with regulatory inquiries, audits, and regular bank assessments.
  • Ensure that U. S. operations are structured and conducted in compliance with applicable regulations.
