Role overview
The Field Service Engineer ensures customers have a positive experience with Carbon’s products. This position is based in Germany and reports to the Field Service Engineering Manager. The engineer works closely with Service and Engineering teams to resolve technical issues directly at customer sites.
What you will do
- Travel frequently (75-90%) within Germany and internationally to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment at customer locations.
- Train customers on using and caring for Carbon products.
- Create and improve standardized service processes and documentation.
- Identify trends in field failures and share feedback with development teams to help improve products.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to investigate and resolve new technical issues.
- Support engineering and manufacturing teams with additional tasks as required.
- Respond to occasional off-hours calls and work needs.
- Stay prepared for international travel as part of the role.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field preferred, but not required.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both German and English.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
- Personal vehicle required.
- Valid passport required.
