We are seeking a highly skilled UPS Field Service Engineer to leverage their extensive knowledge of UPS systems for start-up, testing, and operations. This vital role entails commissioning, maintenance, and emergency support for power electronics at client sites across the Northeast/New England region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts design reviews focused on commissioning, prepares test procedures and reports, and oversees on-site testing.
- Performs preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, and field modifications.
- Coordinates with technical support teams to troubleshoot maintenance or operational issues.
- Assists in the development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
- Reports to a supervisor regarding any unusual issues or developments encountered.
- Participates in training at company headquarters on testing equipment and system rebuilds.
- Completes Field Service Reports in a timely manner and offers proactive recommendations to clients.
- This position is home-based.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience; 10+ years preferred.
- Proficient in troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STSs, and related equipment.
- Skilled in using hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, along with strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative.
- Familiarity with equipment manufacturers’ specifications.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs as necessary.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and be available on-call as needed.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Experience with third-party UPS service providers is advantageous.
- OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is required.
- A technical degree (e.g., from DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
- Military veterans with backgrounds in Electrical/Mechanical systems are highly valued (Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard, etc.).
- A clean driving record is mandatory.
- National travel may occasionally be required for emergencies.
