At Maincode, we are pioneering advancements in artificial intelligence through innovative research. Notably, we have engineered Matilda, Australia’s first large language model (LLM). Our primary research focuses on the evolution of foundational models and innovative architectures that enable reasoning, alignment, and generalization. The Maincode Research Residency offers an opportunity for researchers to delve into experimental and complementary areas of AI, including:

The Role: AI Research Resident
The Maincode Research Residency is a paid program lasting 3 to 6 months, designed for advanced AI researchers in Australia. As a resident, you will collaborate with our core team of researchers, whether on-site, hybrid, or remotely with occasional on-site visits, to investigate your proposed research project.
Maincode provides the necessary infrastructure and computational resources for you to explore your research ideas at scale. You will work closely with our researchers throughout the entire process, from refining your proposal and designing experiments to interpreting results and sharing findings.
This residency allows you to pursue exploratory, high-impact research that aligns with Maincode’s core mission. We encourage projects that challenge the frontiers of fundamental or applied AI and shape the future landscape of AI systems.
