Encora is looking for an experienced AIX System Administrator to join the team in Singapore. This position supports the UNIX infrastructure and works with application teams to ensure reliable, efficient operations.
Role overview
The AIX System Administrator focuses on maintaining high availability for UNIX systems, driving automation, and supporting ongoing system upgrades. Collaboration with development and operations teams is central to this role, as is establishing configuration standards and troubleshooting urgent issues.
What you will do
- Work with application teams to plan and execute end-of-support (EOS) upgrades
- Define configuration standards for UNIX and system software
- Provide technical support for development and operations teams
- Automate scripting tasks using Perl, KSH, and Python
- Use tools such as GIT/GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and Nagios
- Troubleshoot and resolve urgent system issues, implementing recovery solutions as needed
- Lead AIX OS upgrades and ensure systems remain supportable
- Review and manage major change requests
- Conduct performance tuning and system analysis
- Automate operational processes to improve efficiency
- Manage periodic OS and software upgrade cycles
- Oversee backup and recovery protocols
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of AIX OS and system services (Volume Manager, NTP, DNS, Clustering, SSH, TSM, ITM)
- Proven UNIX troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- Experience with UNIX server clustering
- Understanding of information security principles
- Knowledge of data communication and networking
- Familiarity with middleware and UNIX-based application execution is a plus
