Role and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of the Childcare Center collaborates closely with the Executive Director to provide exceptional early childhood care and education for children aged 18 months to 5 years. The role involves planning, executing, and assessing the center’s early care and preschool initiatives.
- Support teachers by providing essential resources for effective parent and child communication while addressing daily safety requirements.
- Implement community involvement initiatives and coordinate events to enhance parent engagement.
- Oversee all operational aspects of the center under the Executive Director’s guidance.
- Ensure teachers effectively engage with students, maintain comprehensive child portfolios, and accurately manage classroom dynamics while fostering positive interactions with parents and children.
- Collaborate with staff to meet state and federal standards and fulfill parental expectations.
- Manage daily operations, including record keeping, facility oversight, compliance documentation, and adherence to safety standards through routine audits.
- Attend to each child’s emotional and physical needs by implementing developmentally appropriate activities, including communication, exercise, nutrition, and guidance.
- Follow the budget set by the Executive Director.
- Engage in growth-related projects as assigned.
- Oversee inventory processes for the school store.
- Manage all student files, access codes, and necessary logs.
CENTER SUPPORT
- Efficiently navigate the phone system, answering calls with warmth and professionalism, relaying messages accurately, and redirecting appropriately.
- Handle inquiries about open positions received through various channels, including in-person, phone, email, or the website.
- Gather information from diverse sources, including staff and parents, and convey it effectively to all relevant parties.
- Welcome parents, staff, and visitors with enthusiasm and warmth.
- Establish rapport with staff, parents, and frequent visitors, making an effort to remember and use names.
- Build positive relationships with children, educators, coordinators, colleagues, and parents.
- Ensure center security by following established safety protocols and controlling access via the reception desk.
- Check-in visitors following strict pick-up procedures.
