Are you ready to challenge the boundaries of what is achievable?We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:Extensive experience in flood forecasting modelling, particularly with Flood Modeller. In-depth understanding of Environment Agency requirements, including the preparation of flood forecasting models that align with their Incident Management Forecasting Systems. Demonstrated proficiency in applying and calibrating hydrological models in flood forecasting contexts (e.g., Muskingum-Cunge, Probability Distribution Model). Exceptional analytical capabilities, with experience in processing and analyzing hydrometric data, including gauge rating evaluations. A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field. Strong skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) such as QGIS, ArcGIS, and/or MapInfo. Practical knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Anaconda, Ruby) is advantageous. You should also be self-motivated, capable of working independently when necessary, and committed to delivering high-quality results.

We invite applications for the position of Associate Flood Forecasting Modeller within our expanding Water team. In this pivotal technical role, you will lead teams to execute real-time flood forecasting projects while assisting in the expansion of our services in collaboration with the Environment Agency and other stakeholders.

Your primary focus will be on flood forecasting, with additional opportunities to engage in broader hydrology and non-real-time modelling initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and evaluate Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports, ensuring the accuracy of existing models and hydrometric data.
  • Design, calibrate, and verify flood forecasting models (such as PDM, Flood Modeller).
  • Conduct non-real-time modelling and hydrological analysis utilizing tools like Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, and FEH hydrological methods.
  • Create and assess high-caliber technical reports that document model development and related uncertainties.
  • Lead and contribute to proposals for major clients.
  • Provide mentorship and support to team members in their professional growth.
  • Foster robust relationships with clients and colleagues across various disciplines.
  • Remain informed about relevant legislation and guidelines impacting our services.
  • Utilize AECOM’s project management systems to deliver superior outputs on schedule and within budget.
