Are you ready to challenge the boundaries of what’s achievable?We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. A professional chartered membership with CIWEM or ICE. Extensive experience in leading teams in the development of flood risk assessments and/or flood risk activity permits. A proven track record in project management, adhering to NEC contract principles. Knowledge and experience in hydraulic modelling as foundational evidence for flood risk assessments/activity permits. Experience with FCERM appraisal, water cycle studies, and water framework directive assessments is advantageous, though not mandatory. We value self-motivated individuals capable of working autonomously when necessary, demonstrating commitment, a willingness to learn, and the desire to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Become a vital part of our innovative and interdisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Flood Risk Consultant within the Regulations and Development sector. In this role, you will take the lead in the technical management of flood risk consent documentation for our esteemed clients. Join one of our rapidly expanding UK offices and benefit from our flexible hybrid working model.

Our team consists of dedicated consultants, engineers, technicians, hydrologists, hydraulic modellers, and project managers. We prioritize the professional growth of our team members, offering opportunities for secondments, site assignments, and tailored training programs to facilitate your development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver: Oversee and validate the creation of essential documents including flood risk assessments, strategic flood risk assessments, flood risk activity permits, Section 19 reports, and water resource chapters of EIAs.
  • Expertise: Spearhead contributions to tenders for intricate and high-profile projects, including those of national significance.
  • Collaborate: Forge strong relationships with clients and interdisciplinary teams to ensure successful execution of various flood risk management projects, whether fluvial, coastal, surface water, or drainage related.
  • Quality: Stay informed on legislative and guideline updates affecting our services; utilize AECOM’s project management systems to deliver top-notch outputs within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Lead: Mentor fellow team members to enhance their professional skills.
