Boulay Group is hiring an Assurance Supervisor for its Mankato, Minnesota office. This role focuses on attestation processes and financial reporting for a varied client portfolio. The Assurance Supervisor collaborates with internal teams, interacts directly with clients, and oversees financial record-keeping and reporting activities. Occasionally, the position includes tax-related assignments.

Managing multiple projects and client relationships is a regular part of this job. The Assurance Supervisor typically works independently but receives guidance from a Manager or Partner. Leadership is important in this role, with responsibilities that include delegating work to less experienced staff. Some assignments require travel to client sites, primarily within the Twin Cities Metro Area.

What you will do

  • Oversee and review all phases of financial statement compilations, reviews, and audits.
  • Conduct complex attestation services, including those related to accrued liabilities, investments, and inventory.
  • Assist clients with intricate accounting transactions and guide internal teams to complete projects.
  • Review workpapers to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Delegate and supervise the initial setup of client files and engagement letters.
  • Develop detailed work plans and timelines for engagements, assigning tasks as needed.
  • Review sample sizes and transactions for testing purposes.
  • Work efficiently within budgetary constraints.
  • Prepare and review client financial statements and related documentation.
  • Research technical issues and draft memos as required.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients.
  • Discuss and explain accounting transactions with clients in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • Identify and flag potential risks or concerns related to client accounts.
