CSN Collision Shirley Drive in Kitchener, Ontario is seeking an experienced Auto Body Technician to join the team. This position focuses on restoring vehicles to their original condition after collisions, ensuring both safety and appearance standards are met.
Role overview
The Auto Body Technician will assess vehicle damage, plan and carry out repairs, and verify that all work meets factory specifications. Attention to detail and the ability to manage shifting priorities are important in this role.
What you will do
- Review damage reports and repair estimates to create a detailed repair plan.
- Inspect vehicles for collision damage and identify any previously missed issues.
- Replace or repair body sections, doors, frames, underbody components, and front end parts.
- Straighten bent frames using specialized equipment and repair dents with appropriate tools.
- Perform welding tasks using MIG welders and compression spot welders.
- Dismantle damaged areas to uncover hidden issues and replace parts as needed.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by filing, grinding, and sanding with hand and power tools.
- Mask, tape, prime, and repaint vehicle surfaces to restore appearance.
- Fill holes, dents, and seams using plastic fillers and soldering equipment.
- Restore vehicles to meet factory specifications and high quality standards.
- Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to confirm proper function and handling.
- Read and interpret repair estimates and automotive procedures accurately.
- Work with a range of materials including metals, plastics, glass, and electrical components.
