About the Position
In the role of Azure Cloud Engineer, you will oversee and enhance customer Azure environments, driving cloud transformation and optimization. This dynamic, customer-oriented position allows you to serve as a trusted advisor, champion automation and DevOps/DevSecOps practices, and ensure secure, efficient operations. You will facilitate collaboration between application and support teams and equip customers with modern operational capabilities.
This role requires on-site support and participation in an on-call roster for after-hours assistance, based in Auckland.
Your Responsibilities
As an Azure Cloud Engineer, your primary focus will include:
- Serving as a trusted advisor on all cloud-related matters.
- Guiding clients on the advantages of cloud technology, automation, and fostering a DevOps/DevSecOps culture.
- Ensuring the security and optimization of our customers' cloud environments.
- Bridging the gap between application technologies and customer support teams.
- Providing enablement and expert guidance.

Your Qualifications
- A strong passion for cloud transformation, automation, and addressing customer challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a clear understanding of the business advantages of cloud technologies.
- A proactive approach to issue ownership and resolution in collaboration with your team.
- Preferred certifications in Azure (AZ-400, AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-500).
- Proven experience in designing, building, deploying, and supporting Azure solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), including but not limited to:
- CI/CD pipeline creation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, and PowerShell.
- Understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, focusing on scalability, resilience, and security.
- Experience with tenancy, account structure, landing zones, policy, tagging, and cost management.
- Deployment and management of VMs, Azure Functions/Serverless, storage solutions, backup strategies, and OS/database configurations.
- Proficiency in network and security configurations, including IAM, Security Groups, VPC/VNet, NLB, WAF, and DNS.
- Utilization of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
- Experience with cloud-native and digital solutions leveraging emerging technologies, such as containers, serverless architectures, data, machine learning, AI, IoT, APIs, and microservices.
- A strong command of Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Azure Active Directory, Azure Networking, and Azure App Services.
