Spark Power, a leading energy solutions provider in North America, is seeking a skilled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technician to become a vital member of our expanding team in El Campo, TX. This exciting role involves contributing to the operation and maintenance of large-scale solar farms, focusing on preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and electrical repairs. At Spark Power, we are dedicated to delivering innovative technical solutions that facilitate the transition to a sustainable energy future.

Your Responsibilities as a BESS Technician:

  • Engage with a diverse range of solar and battery systems, including Samsung technologies.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on utility-scale BESS systems.
  • Implement firmware updates and perform module replacements.
  • Execute hot and cold commissioning of systems.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and conduct electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Safely perform battery charge and discharge cycles.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations to sustain a zero-incident environment.
  • Complete routine safety documentation, including tailgate meetings and electrical work permits.
  • Follow energization and de-energization procedures.
  • Implement lockout/tagout (LOTO) plans and procedures.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints effectively.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Follow OEM-specific maintenance requirements alongside company standards and industry best practices such as NETA MTS and CSA Z463.
  • Document daily activities and work performed digitally.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team-based environment while also working independently when necessary.
  • Participate in on-call weekend services on a rotating schedule.
  • Provide feedback on issues and assist in the ongoing development of projects.
  • Be willing to work overtime as required.
