About the job

Our Mission

At Wave, we are dedicated to making Africa the first cashless continent. In 2017, over half of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa lacked access to banking services due to high fees, geographical barriers, and the limited acceptance of cards. This reality forces many to keep savings in unsafe places and rely on high-interest loans, while parents endure long waits to pay school fees in cash.

We are addressing these challenges by developing innovative financial services that are user-friendly, without account fees, and accepted everywhere. Our mobile app, launched in Senegal in 2017, allows for cash deposits, withdrawals, and peer-to-peer payments, and we are proud to have millions of users across nine countries.

Your role will be pivotal in achieving our goal of a cashless Africa.

How You Will Contribute

Wave has rapidly become the largest financial institution in Senegal, boasting over nine million users. We are still in the early stages of our product roadmap, with tremendous potential to impact everyday lives.

We seek a resourceful, organized, and proactive Business Development Manager to join our team in Cameroon. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will serve as a crucial link between external partners and internal teams, fostering partnerships and executing contracts to support our expansion in the region.

In this role, you will:

  • Partnerships and Relationships:
    • Strengthen relationships with key entities such as the Central Bank, banks, microfinance institutions, telecom companies, and businesses necessary for Wave's growth. This will involve extensive research and leveraging your networks to identify and secure suitable partners, while managing all external stakeholder relationships and ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
    • Be adaptive and willing to assist with diverse tasks across different disciplines to facilitate Wave's scaling efforts in Cameroon.

About Wave

Wave is at the forefront of transforming financial services in Africa, providing accessible and equitable solutions that empower individuals and businesses. Our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction drives our mission to eliminate barriers to financial access and create a cashless future for the continent.
