As a Casual Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT), you will have the opportunity to work 1-2 days a week with an additional Saturday commitment each month. Your role is crucial in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of our clinical environment.

Your Role

The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, processing, and sterilization of medical instruments in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. You will maintain logs to meet regulatory standards, uphold a clean and safe clinical environment, and ensure all safety protocols, including WHMIS guidelines, are followed. Your duties will also include restocking supplies and performing other related tasks as assigned.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all MDR duties ethically and legally to ensure patient safety.
  • Implement infection prevention and control measures throughout clinical practice.
  • Safely operate various MDR equipment on-site.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control on MDR equipment.
  • Maintain detailed MDR logs and records.
  • Execute key stages of reprocessing to achieve disinfection or sterilization of medical equipment.
  • Clean, sanitize, and stock examination, waiting, procedure, and recovery rooms.
  • Prepare instruments for storage and distribution by assembling, packaging, wrapping, and sterilizing as per established protocols.
  • Report any faulty equipment or damaged instruments promptly.
  • Rotate stock and reprocess outdated supplies according to clinic procedures.
  • Undertake other related duties as required.
