Proven experience managing all accounting operations, ensuring scalable financial infrastructure, and establishing best-in-class controls within a complex manufacturing setting. Expertise in general ledger management, revenue/AR, AP, payroll accounting, fixed assets, accruals, and maintaining financial statement integrity. Ability to lead a disciplined monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process, including establishing timelines, reconciliations, review controls, and providing a reliable reporting package. Experience in building manufacturing accounting foundations, including implementing and maintaining inventory accounting, WIP/COGS mechanics, costing methodologies, reserves, and physical inventory processes.

About The Role:

We are seeking a Controller who will establish the financial foundation necessary to transition from breakthrough prototypes to high-volume production. This hands-on role is ideal for a builder ready to rapidly implement strong fundamentals such as closing processes, controls, inventory/cost accounting, systems, and audit preparedness. You will also be responsible for hiring and leading a team to support our next phase of growth.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will serve as the accounting leader and a vital partner to operations. Your responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of our financials, creating scalable processes and policies, and acting as the primary stakeholder for our financial systems (ERP and related infrastructure). Collaborating closely with Finance, Operations, and Strategic Growth, you will align our accounting infrastructure with the company’s mission and pace in a fast-paced, autonomous environment that contributes to a world-changing vision.

This role can be based in Emeryville or Santa Clara.
