Proficient knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and the ability to navigate and monitor ladder logic. Experience with instrumentation calibration tools and procedures. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Job Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and hands-on Controls Systems Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated control systems and instrumentation throughout our facility. Collaborating closely with engineers and operational staff, you will be pivotal in ensuring our processes operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal interruption.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, and commission various instrumentation and control system components, including sensors, transmitters, valves, actuators, and controllers.

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and related field devices.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, pneumatic, and control system faults utilizing schematics, ladder logic, and diagnostic tools.

  • Assist controls engineers with system upgrades, modifications, and startup activities.

  • Monitor and maintain SCADA/HMI systems, documenting anomalies and implementing basic configuration changes as necessary.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical manuals.

  • Document maintenance activities, equipment history, and calibration records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Maintain instrument calibration records ensuring compliance with applicable standards.

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and confined space procedures.

  • Coordinate with operations to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities.

  • Support reliability improvement initiatives and engage in root cause analysis (RCA) efforts.
