About the Role:
The CIH Data & Analytics team creates insightful, data-driven research and content that aid agents, consumers, and the media in understanding the dynamics of housing markets. We are seeking a Data Journalist to uncover compelling narratives from data and present them engagingly to a wide audience.
You will collaborate closely with the Chief Economist to translate housing market analyses into various editorial formats, reports, commentaries, social media content, and visualizations, that are not only accurate but also captivating and firmly grounded in data.
Responsibilities:
Writing & Editing
- Craft and refine market reports, economic commentaries, and narrative summaries of housing data for agents, consumers, and media.
- Translate quantitative analysis findings into stories that are easily understood by non-specialist audiences.
- Edit and enhance content produced by the economics team for clarity, structure, and narrative flow.
- Contribute to regular publications, including market outlooks, regional reports, and luxury market analyses.
Data Journalism & Research
- Utilize housing and economic datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and compelling narratives.
- Collaborate with the Chief Economist to develop editorial angles and frame data findings as engaging content.
- Verify data claims and ensure accuracy and consistency across all published materials.
Data Visualization
- Create charts, graphics, and interactive visualizations that effectively convey data insights.
- Establish a cohesive visual style for Compass research outputs across reports, presentations, and social media.
- Utilize tools such as Flourish, Datawrapper, or similar platforms.
Content Distribution
- Adapt research findings for various formats and channels, including social media, email, press releases, and agent-facing communications.
